4k Displayport and HDMI Dual Adapter into USB-C Hub daisy-chaining

Hey all - New user here.

I’m a Sys admin for a non-profit in Pittsburgh Pa.

I am reaching out to see if this would be a possibility.

I purchased one of the dual Displayport/HDMI adapters for an M1 MacBook air.

Is it a possibility to have this adapter plugged into a USB-C hub and have that hub plugged into the MacBook and it work the way it is supposed to? To support dual external monitors?
This way my end user doesn’t have to plug in two dongles? Also, per my directors request. Haha.

Please let me know!!

I appreciate any insight!

Hello Matt,

Usually, we do not recommend using a 3rd party device between our docks and the host as we, unfortunately, cannot guarantee compatibility. That being said, however, I have had some success using one of our USBC-7IN1E Hubs (seen here: https://plugable.com/products/usbc-7in1e) with one of our USBC-6950U adapters (https://plugable.com/products/usbc-6950u). I plugged the USBC-7IN1E Hub into my MacBook and then the USBC-6950U into the USBC-7IN1E Hub and was able to acquire two monitors. I suspect most Hubs would work but again, I would not be able to guarantee compatibility.

Of course, if you wanted to try your USB-C hub with the adapter we would certainly be interested to hear the results.

I hope this helps!

All the best

Thank you so much for your response! The USB hub is an Anker one, so I am hopeful! I’m going to test it and report back!

Thanks again!!!

Hello Matt,

Looking forward to hearing the results!

All the best,

Michael S.
