4-Port USB 3.0 Hub power cord too short

I recently purchased the Plugable 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub at Amazon. The adapter power cord is so short that I if I place the hub on my desk, I can’t plug it in to the power strip on the floor. It’s less than 36 inches. Can I get a longer replacement?

Thanks for contacting us! I’m very sorry for the frustration - that’s the standard length of the power cable on this product, and there isn’t a longer replacement at this time. We’re looking at cable length improvements in addition to moving to the latest chipset rev (VL-811) in the next batch, but that’s not something that helps you now (in fact, we’ll be out of stock of this product for a while, pending that update).

In the short term, we’d recommend a extension power cable.

Both in order to get to power sockets father away, and to not have the larger power bricks tie up more than one socket, these are a cheap way to add flexibility.

To use an extension means the power adapter will be dangling in the air. That’s not acceptable (if not dangerous). A power cord shorter than 36 inches is not appropriate for a product that is likely to be used on a desktop.

Another purchaser on Amazon was contacted by Pluggable that the short power cord was due to a packaging error and was sent a replacement: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005HARR2W/r…

Hi Nick,

This is one of those cases where we might not be able to satisfy every request. We won’t have enough of the long power supply cords until the new batch comes in. Unfortunately, that’ll be 2-3 months (and we’ll be out of stock of the USB 3.0 hub during that time).

That said, please email support@plugable.com with your Amazon order #, and we’ll see if we have any longer cables for the USB 3.0 hub left – these would be ones mixed in with earlier batches (which are mixed length, unfortunately - our mistake not catching a supplier error earlier). This is why we made sure that the Amazon product listing shows the shortest length (3 ft), to try to set expectations properly.
