I’ve got 2x NEC screens connected via DVI & DVI to USB (UGA-3000)
I’m trying to connect a 3rd Hp screen. It has displayport and vga connectors, and I bought a DisplayPort to HDMI converter and connected to the UD-3900
Should this work? It doesn’t! Screen doesn’t detect an input, and Windows doesn’t detect the 3rd screen
Further, the converter I bought is passive, and converts (or so I thought) from DisplayPort to HDMI, ie its a little box that literally changes the end of the cable
From reading up, it looks like this wont work?
But then it also looks like the Plugable version only does the other way round
Can you pls confirm?
The screen (Hp ProDisplay P202) I want to connect has both DisplayPort and VGA connectors, if there is another product I should look at
The passive converter you have will only allow for the conversion of a DisplayPort output to a HDMI input, not the other way around as you are trying to do, so unfortunately this won’t work. This isn’t a limitation of our dock, but that of the HDMI specification. I wrote about some of the options in this type of scenario if you are interested -> http://plugable.com/2015/07/06/video-…
As your monitor only has VGA and DisplayPort inputs, one option would be to use our HDMI to VGA cable -> http://amazon.com/dp/B00H4J5B9U to go from the HDMI output of the dock to the VGA input of your HP monitor.
Let us know if that information helps and we’ll go from there.
