3.5 mm Audio Input level and encoding

Is this a Mic level input device or a line level input device? Or both?
Secondly, how will audio get encoded? Single channel? Dual channel mono? etc.

Hello Sin,

Thanks for reaching out to us! Glad to see you’re interested in our audio adapter. Our adapter has both a stereo headphone out and a stereo microphone input port.

You can source content in the mic port for recording, but it isn’t the same as a traditional aux/line in port. Our adapter is compatible with 3.5mm trs jacks only. Other jack styles such as 1/4 instrument cables and XLR mics are not compatible even if adapted to 3.5mm trs. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you,

Hello,

Just a small update here for anyone else that may find this thread. The audio input on the USB-AUDIO adapter is mic level, not line level and is not recommended for use with any professional audio equipment that requires line level or specific TRS pin-outs that do not match consumer-grade equipment that follows the below pin-out:

Tip = Left +
Ring = Right +
Sleeve = shield or ground

Thank you,
