2nd Monitor Detected by Not Displaying

Hello,

I purchased the USB 3.0 Dual Monitor Docking station and I’m attempting to setup to my work laptop with two external monitors. One is plugged in with the DVI to VGA adapter and another is plugged into the HDMI port with a VGA to HDMI. Whichever monitor I use the HDMI to VGA adapter with, it shows blank despite being detected by the system as a display. Then when I click advanced display settings for the monitor that is not displaying it says “No Monitor”. I’ve tried this both with my work laptop as well as with my home desktop PC and it’s the same result.

Prior to purchasing this docking station I had both monitors successfully working with my desktop PC using the adapter (HDMI to VGA) and the second one plugged directly into a VGA port. Please help.

I’d like to be able to use both monitors while connected to my work laptop as well as with my home pc.
Thanks,
Jason

Update - I purchased a DVI to HDMI cable and the second monitor is working correctly. Unsure if a different VGA to HDMI cable would have made a difference but glad that I’ve got the use of 2 monitors now.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for the update on that and I’m glad to hear that you were able to fix the issue. I appreciate you working with us on this issue and it does seem like the HDMI to VGA adapter you were using wasn’t compatible with our dock unfortunately so I’m glad that using a DVI to HDMI cable resolved the issue.

Please do reach out to Plugable again if you see any issues with your devices or if there is anything else we can help with.

Thanks!
-Andrew
