Y Cable, or 2 Separate connections on back of Plugable?

I have a Dell PC in my office. I purchased a Dell laptop, which I’ll be using as my hard drive going forward. I purchased the Plugable Dual Monitor Docking Station. Do I need to use a Y Cable, coming from the DVI connection on back, or would it work better to connect (1) monitor to the DVI, and (1) monitor to the HDMI?

Hi Lawrence,

Thanks for reaching out to us, I am happy to answer your questions!

Our docking station supports one monitor per output port, unlike some Dell desktops which use a high density port which allowed for using a Y-cable for multiple monitor support.

I recommend connecting one monitor with the HDMI port and the other monitor to the DVI port. DVI-to-HDMI cables can convert either the HDMI output to a DVI monitor or the DVI output to an HDMI monitor. These cables are available separately from Amazon or other retailers.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
