Will/Does the Plugable USB 3.0 7 port hub have VIA VL812

Specs on the Plugable USB 3.0 7 port hub say it has VIA VL811 - some of your competition has been updated to use the VL812 - any plans to update your product and what are the differences in the chipset?

Thanks,

Ed

[update: all stock at Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk is now converted to VL812]

Hi Ed,

Thanks for asking! Current units are VL811. We’ll be rolling over to the VL812 as it becomes available to us.

The VL812 is an incremental improvement over the VL811 - VIA advertises primarily lower power consumption and some cost reduction from built-in DC-DC conversion. You can see more at VIA’s announcement of the VL812 here: http://www.via-labs.com/en/products/v…

Hope that helps. Thanks!
Bernie

I now see the new VL812 product available but it seems to be out of stock - do you have a date when it will be available again? - Please advise. Thanks

(The plugable website links to Amazon and it is not available there which is why I am asking)

Hi Ed - Thanks for going out of your way to ask!

Yes, sorry - sales got ahead of us and we’re completely out of stock this week. Additional units (all with VL812 chipset) are in transit that are expected to arrive around 12/10.

If you’d like an email notification when the units are back in stock, just email support@plugable.com and we’d be happy to get you on the list.

Thanks again!
Bernie

Thanks Bernie - nice problem to have!
