will any of these work with a linux ubuntu 14.04 or earlier?

I’ve got a W7 laptop that works with VGA (or HDMI) port plus a USB(2)-to-VGA external graphics card. Is this possible under ubuntu 14.04 or earlier?

Hi LewG,

Thanks for contacting us. I’d be happy to answer your question.

Right now we don’t recommend our USB Video adapters for Linux users. Although it can work, it is far from the plug and play experience on Windows. We wrote a blog post on the topic back in March:

In the comments some users report success in Ubuntu 14.04 but many factors can contribute to success or failure (such as the GPU yin your machine and whether or not you are using open source or proprietary drivers). In short, unless you are comfortable with some manual configuration and dealing with potential bugs it’s best not to use USB Video adapters with Linux right now.

Thank you,

Bob
