USB3/2 HDD Dock cuts out when using USB3 after transfering for a few min.

Plugable USB 3.0/2.0 SATA Hard Drive Docking Station
Model: USB3-SATA-U3
Windows 8 x64

I finally got a new computer with USB 3.0. Unfortunately, when I use the USB 3.0 port and am transferring files, the drive cuts out after about 4min. It’s almost as if the drive doesn’t have the power to run the HDD(s).

I’m using basic 500gb 7200rpm Samsung SATA III HDD’s (a few years old)
Model number HD501LJ
I’ve also tried a new WD green 5400rpm 2TB drive. Same problem.

All works fine on USB 2, albeit quite slow.
Help greatly appreciated.
