USB2-E100 not working with Windows 10 ASUS, works on another laptop

USB2-E100, using w/ ASUS Q524UQ, USB 3.0 port, won’t light up. Driver shows installed. Ethernet connection verified working, adapter works on another Windows 7 laptop, so there’s a config issue with the ASUS. Suggestions? The driver details on WIN 7 show both a .sys file and .dll, Windows 10 shows .sys file only. Not sure if that is correct. Also the installed drivers are different versions. Windows 10 is 3.18.2.0, Windows 7 is 3.14?.x.x I think.
