USB 3.0 7 port Hub not installing USB2 - cannot use USB2 devices

7-port usb 3.0 hub usb2 not installing. In device manager, Etron USB3 hub is installed OK, but Etron USB2 (HS) Hub did not install. Tried to update driver but said driver already installed. Hub is plugged into a USB3.0 port on my motherboard (Asrock 970 Extreme)

Hi John-

Thanks for posting with your issue, I’ll be happy to help.

The behavior you have described does not sound out of the ordinary- confusion around how hubs are listed on a PC is common. If you’re not having trouble with devices connecting through the hub, I don’t think we have anything to worry about here.

Please do let us know of any issues with devices connecting via the hub. In case of specific device connection issues, the following details will be helpful:

  1. The brand and model number of your PC or motherboard
  2. The brand and model of the specific devices (or if you notice that a set of devices doesn’t work) that are having trouble.
  3. The output from our support tool, PlugDebug, which will provide crucial information about which Windows version your system runs, what hardware and software is loaded in the system, and many important configuration details.

Instructions to download and use PlugDebug are here:

If you can please send the PlugDebug file to support@plugable.com with a link to this thread and details on what specific devices are having trouble I’ll be able to recommend our next steps.

Best wishes-

Just for public record, some of the issues described above were resolved by updating the Etron USB 3.0 host controller driver installed on the customers PC with the one available here:
http://www.etron.com/en/products/u3hc…

Even after updating, some issues remained. These were resolved by changing to a Renesas based PCIe to USB 3.0 adapter card instead of one using the Etron chip.
