direct connection with internet gives 500 MBps - when connected to docking station we get less then 200MBps

For the benefit of anyone else following this thread, we reached out to John directly so that he could provide us the Amazon Order ID number for his Plugable purchase and the output of our diagnostic utility PlugDebug → https://plugable.com/support/plugdebug so that we could determine the next steps (we do not want this personal information posted in our public forum).

We have already sent our direct response to John with the next steps, and we will update this thread for the benefit of others at the conclusion.
