UD-3900H with two Displayport Monitors

I just got the UD-3900H. I was hoping to use it to connect two HP ProDisplay P232 monitors to my Surface Pro. Both HP monitors have Displayport and VGA connections. I intended to use the VGA adapter output from the UD-3900H to connect one monitor via VGA port, and then connect the other monitor using the HDMI output from UD-3900H and a HDMI/DP converter cable.

The monitor with the VGA cable works fine. The monitor with HDMI/DP converter cable does not work. Is it not possible to convert from HDMI (source) to DP (display)? Are there any other alternatives to make this work?

Hi Brad,

Thanks for reaching out to us, I am sorry this is not working as expected.

Most DisplayPort to HDMI cables convert from a DisplayPort source to an HDMI output but will not convert from an HDMI source to a DisplayPort output. Converting from the HDMI output to a VGA input may be easier, our 6’ HDMI to VGA cable ( https://plugable.com/products/hdmi-vga ) can connect the HDMI output of the UD-3900H docking station to the VGA input on the second monitor.

Alternatively, our UD-6950H Dual 4K Display Horizontal Docking Station ( https://plugable.com/products/ud-6950h ) provides two native DisplayPort outputs. DisplayPort can provide for a crisper image with better color quality as it is less affected by external interference than VGA.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed and I can help to make sure we get the best fit for your setup.

Thank you,
