Hello…
I am using a UD-3900 USB 3.0 Universal Docking Station with the following:
Computer: Dell XPS 13 notebook (Core i7)
Monitor (External): Dell 3007 WFP. The Windows recommended resolution is 2048x1152. The monitor is connected to the UD 3900 via DVI. It works @ 1280 x 800, but when I select the recommended resolution (2048x1152) I get a black screen.
Operating System: Windows 8.1 Professional 64-Bit
I have installed the latest Display Link drivers and have also installed the Intel reference drivers for the HD 4400.
I would really like to get this working and don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for you reply.
Hello Marc,
I am sorry to hear this. Do you have another monitor connected via HDMI? Are you extending or mirroring your desktop?
Kind regards,

Extending. This Dell 30 does not have HDMI. I do have another monitor, an ASUS 24 and the HDMI works fine. But I want to use the 30" I am extending the desktop.
Do you know why this would not work?
Hi Marc,
The reason why we are experiencing this is because the Dell monitor requires DVI-D dual link to display your desired resolution. The docking station itself is only a DVI-D single link port and unfortunately no USB-graphics-solution on the market will be able to solve this problem.
What you need to display 2048x1152 or higher (2560x1600 max) is a modern graphics card that supports DVI-D dual link and HDCP.
If you need refund assistance, please contact me directly at support@plugable.com and use the subject “Problem #83189” for reference to this thread. I profusely apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks Patric.
Question, is there an external USB graphics card that you would recommend that would allow me to use the Dell 30" with my laptop? My Dell XPS 13 has a mini display port. Is there an active adapter or something? I know this is not related to your product, so I appreciate if you have any suggestions.
No need for refund, I will use the UD-3900 for USB and peripherals even if I don’t use it for monitors…
Thanks again!
Hello Marc,
You are welcome. There are adapters like this one -> www.amazon.com/dp/B004I6L6DW from different vendors (they all look the same), and this will work, but I cannot comment on performance if you are using CAD or are trying to stream HD video for example. Normal web usage and office applications should be fine though. I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Patric
