Hello,
I have a Dell Insprion 530, MB is DM33M03. It has 2 PCI slots, 1 PCI-e 1x, and 1 PCI-e x16. I wish to purchase a PCI-e 3.0 card to have USB 3.0 capabilities. I am not an expert, but looked into PCI-e over the internet, and I have a concern about what version of PCI / PIC-e my computer uses. I am not 100% sure, but I believe it uses PCI 2.3 per the following site: http://www.foxconnchannel.com/Product….
My questions:
- Am I using PCI 2.3 (not sure why it isn’t called PCI-e 2.3)? Or, how to verify this? I am using Ubuntu 10.04LTS, which I believe you provide drivers compatible with Unbutnu/Linux - correct? I wish to know if PCI 2.3 will limit the capability of your Plugable PCI Express to SuperSpeed USB 3.0 2-Port Expansion Card for Desktops (NEC/Renesas Chipset) performance.
- Reading a different post (http://support.plugable.com/plugable/…) which is 1 year old, might there be any issues now with connecting to any particular external USB drives (GoFlex, WD, Phantom)?
Thank you for your reply in advance.
