Problems with driver compatibility - XP

I’ve just setup my laptop (windows 10) with a new UD-3900 and dual monitors and all works well.

However, I’m now trying to setup my older desktop running xp so I can switch between the two, but I get a popup msg saying:

“Your drivers are not compatible with your Plugable UD-3900 device … Get the latest drivers before you can use your device”

This is using the latest xp drivers (7.6M2) from

I then uninstalled and reinstalled, but with the same message.

I then tried the older drivers (DisplayLink_7.4M0.exe) which came on the cd and get the same error when I plug it in.

Any ideas?

Hi Mark,

Thanks for posting. I’d be happy to help with your docking station!

Moving the dock between the two systems should work properly if you are using the latest version of the DisplayLink driver 7.6 M2 for the Windows XP system and 7.9 M3 for the Windows 10 system. When switching back to the XP system you will get a warning about not using the latest DisplayLink driver (screenshot below) but everything should be working as expected. Can you make sure you have those versions installed on the respective systems and try the swap again?

If that works, great! If not the next step is to have you keep the dock connected to the XP system and send the output of our PlugDebug diagnostic utility ( to with ‘Ticket 122626’ in the subject line so we can match everything up. If you could also include your Amazon Order ID number for the dock purchase and the dock serial number (from the bottom of the unit) that would be great.

Just send us the file and the additional information when you have a moment and we’ll go from there.

Thank you,
