Power supply: via Pugable U3900 or Dell power cord

I apologize if this is question is too basic but, my Plugable U3900 is connected to my Dell laptop. All is connected and working well. Do I need to plug in the Dell power cord or does the battery get recharged via the Plugable U3900?

Thanks for posting your question here! You would need to plug in the Dell power cord to charge the laptop. Plugable UD-3900 is not designed to charge an upstream computer.
