Plugable audio/ethernet drivers missing after update (UD-3000)

I’m running Win8 and had been using the UD-3000 fine for everything. I just updated the displaylink drivers, and now my external speakers are not working. I looked at Win7 fix for this that didn’t quite seem to apply to Win8, especially since nothing changed but the update. I went to device manager, and both Plugable Audio and Plugable Ethernet say “The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)”.

Searching automatically for these drivers didn’t work. What should I do?

Hi Evan,

Thanks for posting your question here! Let’s start by resetting the firmware on the dock as well as reloading the DisplayLink driver software using the below steps:

  1. Disconnect the dock from the computer and the power adapter from the dock.

  2. Run the DisplayLink Cleaner tool to completely uninstall existing DisplayLink Software:
    http://displaylink.com/techsupport_fi…

  3. Download driver v7.2 M1 from the below link and follow the installation prompts.
    http://www.displaylink.com/support/sl…

  4. Reboot the computer,

  5. Replug the power adapter to the dock and reconnect to the computer. Allow several minutes for the driver to enumerate and for the firmware to complete upgrade.

Let me know what you see after this!

Thanks,
Ellen

That fixed it.
