New Plugable 7 Port High Speed USB 2.0 Hub Does Not Work

Just received my Plugable 7 Port High Speed USB 2.0 Hub and it lights up when I plug in the AC power adapter and/or connect it to my PC but no lights come on when I plug in a USB device to any of the ports on the hub and the device is not visible to the PC. It appears that the hub does not work.
