iTunes not recognizing iPhone or iPad when connected to USB 3 7 port hub

Just got a Plugable USB 3.0 7-Port Hub for use with my MacBook Pro. When it’s hooked up to power and the laptop’s USB port, charging of my iPhone 6s, my iPad mini and my iPod works fine. But the finder, nor iTunes recognizes any of them. I put plugged in a USB 3 thumb drive and that was recognized no problem. I’m running the latest version of OS X El Capitan. Am I missing something or is this a bug?
