Is there any chance in the future of having a USB-UHD with 60Hz support at 4k?

I see the 4k limit is only 30Hz

Is there any work being done to support 60Hz? I realise this is basically a fundamental DisplayLink issue so does anyone know if they are working on a solution? I don’t really want to have to upgrade my laptop just for the 4k.

I realise there are bandwith issues but I’m looking at this for mainly desktop work (coding, some basic CAD) and I feel basic things like mouse movement etc will be detrimental at 30Hz.

Thanks

Hi Christian,

Good question, thanks for asking!

DisplayLink has demo’d 4K@60Hz, but they haven’t publicly announced any time frame regarding manufacturing a chip that supports this functionality.

Thanks!
