high speed VGA from DisplayPort 1.2 or HDMI 2.0

Let us know if you find a female to female adapter that works with USB-C DisplayPort alt mode. Like I said, I don’t even know if that’s possible.

For the best external option I could find, read https://hardforum.com/threads/use-usb…

I was thinking something like this https://www.pimfg.com/product-detail/…

or this

https://www.amazon.com/Exuun-Adapter-…

I’ve mentioned in this thread that the “000-USB3-CC-FF” from “PI Manufacturing” doesn’t work. You can read my review on their product page.

The Exuun looks more promising since it does mention Thunderbolt and HDMI support, however the same product description is used for all the adapters (angle, male/female, male/male, female/female). I see only one review for the F/F variant which says “Not gen 2” which means the quality is not good enough for USB 3.1 gen 2 (10 Gbps)? Well, DisplayPort 1.2 is only 5.4 Gbps per lane?

I think any USB-C receptacle is suspect unless it’s a fully implemented port (DFP, UFP, DRP) (Downward Facing Port, Upward Facing Port, Duel Role Port)?

I think the problem is my board, took the UPD2018 to the Fry’s service desk and they had no issues with it.

If the problem is your motherboard, then using the UPD2018 outside the computer would be an option, but I think getting a non-flaky board is more important.

There is now a DisplayPort to VGA adapter. It’s discussed at https://hardforum.com/threads/24-wide…
It’s from Delock. http://www.delock.de/produkte/S_62967…
It’s rated up to 270 MHz, but someone tested it up to 340 MHz. The plugable.com usbc-vga adapter is rated at somewhere between 165 to 195 MHz (they don’t give a number) but I’ve tested it up to 330 MHz.
