have to open laptop on reboot to get external monitors to come up

I am configuring a new HP Spectre x360 laptop with a Nvidea GeForce MX150 display adapter (2Gb of RAM) using your USB 3.0 docking station. I have two external monitors, one attached via the DVI on the plugable and one attached via the HDMI port on the plugable using an HDMI to DVI cable. When I reboot the laptop the external monitors don’t come up until I open the laptop. On occasion I have to log in on the laptop to get the monitors to come up.

Once the monitors are up I can close the laptop and the external monitors work just fine until the next reboot. Any thoughts on how to get things to work without having to open the laptop on reboot?

Thanks,

Hi John,

Thanks for reaching out to us, I am sorry this is not behaving as expected.

This sound like the notebook’s internal display is set as primary. To set one of the external displays as primary please perform the following ( in Windows 10 ):

  1. Log into the desktop and minimize or close any open windows
  2. Right click on the desktop and select “Display settings” from the drop-down menu
  3. From the diagram at the top of the window, select the monitor you wish to set as primary ( use the “Identify” button to map the physical monitor to the diagram )
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the window and select the check-box “Make this my main display”
  5. Close the window, reboot the computer to see if the login prompt is now on the display you selected

Please let me know if this helps,
