Hard Drive Dock USB3.1 Gen 2 - Fails when copying large file to Samsung EVO 550 SSD

I’m using your product Plugable USB 3.1 Gen 2 SATA Vertical Hard Drive Dock with Samsung EVO 850 500GB connected to my 2016 Apple MacBook Pro. When I use the USB-C to USB-C cable, I’m have intermittent failures using Apple Time Machine backup. When copied large files 2 to 4GB with the same USB-C to USB-C cable, it seem to hang for a long time (minute or more) before continue with copy or it eventually fails to complete the file copy.

Hi John,

Thanks for posting, and sorry to hear of the issues here. Hoping we can help get to the bottom of it.

A couple tests to suggest as a starting point:

  1. To help determine if the behavior is caused by wi-fi interference, could you please try disconnecting from wi-fi and rerunning the backup?

  2. If you have a TouchBar MacBook, could you please try one of the USB-C ports on the other side of the system? Some users are reporting having better behavior on one side vs. the other.

Please let me know regarding the above and we’ll go from there.

Thanks!
Gary
