Dual HP monitors are not detected

Update: Windows 10 running, I had to manually update drivers through my computer once I replugged in the plugable. This tip came courtesy of a review from an amazon reviewer.

I just purchased my plugable docking station to use with my new Pavilion HP laptop and two new HP 21kd monitors. My mouse and computer plugged and worked fine, but my monitors are not detected. I checked for updated drivers on the monitors, and they are up to date. One is connected via DVI and the other thru hdmi. I’ve uninstalled the display link software, but I can’t find an active link to the cleaner. I know I need to reinstall, but not sure where to look for updated link.

Hi Daniette,

Thanks for contacting us! We’re glad you were able to resolve the issue by updating the drivers manually.

For anyone else having similar problems, we have a standard procedure for reinstalling the DisplayLink software for our DisplayLink-based docks and adapters that you may have seen already on our forums:

  1. Disconnect the dock from the system and please remove the power cable from the dock so it turns off completely (this is important so the unit resets). Please keep it disconnected until the last step
  2. Uninstall any and all software with ‘DisplayLink’ in the title that is present from within the Control Panel -> Programs and Features. Don’t worry if these entries are not present or if the process does not work, just move onto the next step
  3. Download, extract and run the DisplayLink cleaner tool (https://s3.amazonaws.com/plugable/bin/DisplayLink/DisplayLink+Installation+Cleaner+8.4.2368.exe)
  4. Once the Cleaner has been run, reboot (even if not prompted to)
  5. Now download and install the 8.6 M1 DisplayLink software (https://s3.amazonaws.com/plugable/bin/DisplayLink/DisplayLink+USB+Graphics+Software+for+Windows+8.6+M1.exe)
  6. Reattach the power cable to the dock first. Once the dock is powered on, reconnect it to your system which will trigger the final portion of the installation

For any further questions, please feel free to contact us directly at support@plugable.com. We’re happy to help.

Best wishes,

Mitchell
