Hi Rich-

Thanks for posting with your question, I’ll be happy to help.

A couple of additional details would be very helpful in recommending the right steps:

  1. Which of our hubs do you have, our USB 2 or USB 3 7 port model:
    http://plugable.com/products/usb3-hub…
    OR
    http://plugable.com/products/usb2-hub…

  2. Are the drives you’re using USB “bus powered” (2.5 inch drives that draw power from the USB connection to the PC) or “self powered” (3.5 in drives that draw power from an AC electric “wall wart” or laptop style power “brick”).

Once I have these extra details I’ll be able to recommend our next steps.

Best wishes-

Hi Rich-

Thanks for confirming you’re using the USB 3.0 model with self-powered drives.

I’m not yet sure what could be going wrong here- sometimes we find that specific drives need firmware updates to work on the hub, even if they work on a direct connection to the PC.

Is the same drive or port the one that consistently has issues? If you move the drive that isn’t coming up to another port, does it come up? I’m wondering if the issue could be a specific port on the hub that has a problem, or if a specific drive seems to always be the one that doesn’t come up.

Thanks for your patience as we work to help! Also, FYI, I removed your last reply since your email was posted there and anything we post here is visible to anyone on the internet.

Please let me know of any other questions.

Best-

Jeff

Just for public record, the solution in this case turned out to be installing a driver for a specific drive.
