Close lid on laptop after connection.

Dell inspiron 15 running 1 external display. I want to close the lid to the laptop and use the one display, external mouse, and keyboard. I do not want to use the laptops display, keyboard.

Hi

Thanks for posting your question here! You can configure Windows to continue working when the lid is closed. As long as you configure the power option settings to ‘Do nothing’ when the lid is closed, you will be able to continue working when the laptop is in clamshell mode. Here are the instructions for that:

  1. Click on the Windows logo key + X and click on Power Options from the menu displayed. This should open up the Power Options window which should look like the screenshot in the following link : http://plugable.com/wp-content/upload…

  2. From the left pane click ‘Choose what closing the lid does’ .

  3. Select ‘Do nothing’ from the drop down lists next to ‘When I close the lid’. It should look similar to the screenshot in the following link : http://plugable.com/wp-content/upload…

  4. Click on the ‘Save changes’ button at the bottom of the same window

Once the settings are saved, the system will not hibernate, sleep or shut down when you close the lid and you can continue working.

Hope the above information helps! If you need any additional information, please do shoot us an email at support@plugable.com. We are here to help!
