I have a TBT4-UD5 connecting to a Mac M2 running latest Tahoe. The wired keyboard sometimes disconnects after the MAC is in sleep mode. In the past I have done (as recommended) a power cycle and the keyboard has reconnected. Now, the power cycle is not working to reconnect the keyboard.
Today I have changed my Mac’s system preferences to ensure the Mac stays connected to the plugable during sleep mode. However, this doesn’t help me to reconnect the keyboard.
I know this is similar to other topics but I’m at a loss as to how to proceed to reconnect it. I have followed the power cycle instructions to the letter.
I am sorry to hear of the issues you are running into with your TBT4-UD5, but I would be happy to help diagnose the issues here.
First, can you confirm that this issue is present no matter which USB port on the dock the keyboard is connected to?
Next, can you try connecting the dock to another USB-C port on the MacBook itself and let me know if the issue still persists?
Lastly, can you confirm that you are trying to connect to your laptop using the included Thunderbolt 4 cable that came with your dock? We’ve seen issues arise when a third party cable is used.
Thanks Evan. Yes, no matter what USB Port is used, the keyboard remains unconnected and unpowered. I have tried the other USB-C port to connect the dock to the MacBook and the issue persists. The other USB devices work fine in all USB ports…it’s just the keyboard that does not connect. Yes, I am using the Thunderbolt cable that came with the unit.
Do you have access to another keyboard that you can swap in to see if the issue persists on a different keyboard? Given that other USB peripherals work as expected here leads me to believe this might be a keyboard specific issue.
Hi Evan…thanks for this. I didn’t have another keyboard to test but given that the problem had occurred intermittently in the past I simply bought a wireless keyboard - can’t afford the time to explore this further. I’m fairly sure it’s not the keyboard but rather some issue with corrupt or persistent USB cache in my Mac. I’ll never know for sure. Thanks again.
