Asus Ux430UN compatability with plugable UD-CA1A

Does anyone know if ASUS Ux430UN work with Plugable UD-CA1A. I know it will not power the laptop but will it work for display purposes. the laptop says it has usb type c with external display support, is it the same as alt-mode?

Hi CM27,

Thanks for reaching out to us, I am happy to answer your questions!

Based on the documentation, the UX430UA should support USB 3.1 Type-C DisplayPort Alternate Mode, however they make no mention about charging. This review ( https://www.laptopmag.com/reviews/lap… ) states the system does not support USB-C charging. The notebook also hosts a USB 3.0 Type-A port ( and a USB 2.0 Type-A port ).

This means the UD-CA1A ( https://plugable.com/products/ud-ca1a ) should be partially supported with this system. To expand on this, the graphics output should work fine, however the system will not charge from the docking station and will require the Asus charging cable. The additional USB 3.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet, and 3.5mm stereo headphone and microphone jacks should all work normally.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you,
