4K USB-C Triple Display Docking Station HDMI 4k not working

Hi there,

I have a Surface Book laptop with up to date Windows 10. I have set up the 4K USB-C Triple Display Docking Station and everything works, including the display ports, but the HDMI does not work. I am able to extend my laptop screen to the two display port monitors, but I do not get any output form the HDMI.
I have updated the Displaylink drivers.
I have unplugged everything and brought the unit back - power, display ports, USB ports, plug into computer.
I do have a converter for USB C to plain USB for the laptop.

Thoughts as to how I can fix this problem?

Hello Gregg,

Thank you for contacting Plugable support! Sorry to hear about this issue. I’d be more than happy to assist you.

You will be unable to use the HDMI port as your laptop lacks native USB-C. By using a USB-C to USB-A adapter the HDMI port cannot function as it relies on USB-C VESA DisplayPort Alternate Mode video output technology.

Please don’t hesitate to let us know of other questions.

Thanks again for contacting Plugable support and best wishes!
