I bought the cable transfer and I came with a cd and says it works on windows 10, I have passed the data from one computer to another with windows 7 but with windows 10 there will be no easy transfer.

It sounds like you used the “Windows Easy Transfer” software for moving files between your Windows 7 PCs. The transfer cable is compatible with Windows Easy Transfer, but Microsoft chose to discontinue this software in Windows 10.
The CD included with your cable can be used to install “Bravura Easy Computer Sync”, which is different transfer software that supports all Windows versions from XP to Windows 10. This software can also be downloaded from the following page of our website, which includes instructions on how to use it:

This software needs to be installed on both PCs involved in the transfer. After installing it, you will be prompted to enter a Product Key. You should have received an email from us with your Product Key shortly after your order shipped. If you didn’t receive this email, please contact us directly at support@plugable.com and provide your Amazon order number associated with the cable purchase; we can use that to look up your Product Key.
