USB Bluetooth adapter not working with Windows 10

Recently I purchased the Plugable USB Bluetooth adapter from Amazon and I have had no luck getting it to work yet. I am running Windows 10 x64.

When I plug in the adapter nothing happens. I checked in device manager and found that there is an issue with the BCM20702A0 driver.

Attempting to update the driver from device manager just gives me the error “Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.”

Even trying to go through the windows updates meets me with a similar error.

I have also tried clearing the software distribution folder and starting the updates fresh, but no difference.

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated

Hi Taylor,

Thank you for posting your question. Sometimes Windows Update has troubles connecting to the Microsoft server to download the driver. It could be a setting or the sign of another problem.

You can install the drivers manually using the file at this link:

If you have any problems with this, please let me know.

Thanks,

I have tried that as well with no change. I gave it another shot anyway and tried to Repair the installation. Rebooted, and nothing changed.

HI Taylor,

Thank you for trying that. There is likely something wrong with the drivers on a deeper level.

Could you run our diagnostic program? It will gather device information and installation logs that will help me understand what is happening.

To do this, please plug the adapter into your computer, then go to this page, and follow the instructions there:

http://plugable.com/support/plugdebug

When you run the program, it will create a zip file on your desktop with your computer name and the date. Please send that file directly to our support email at support@plugable.com

Please put “For Ticket #167187” in the subject line.

Of course it it turns out something is wrong with the adapter, we will get a replacement out to you right away.

Thanks!
