Usb 3.0 to ethernet adapter keeps dropping connection

I have a lenovo yoga 2 13 and since it doesnt have an ethernet port, I purchased the Usb 3.0 to ethernet adapter. The ethernet drops connection when I use big bandwith programs like netflix. I’ve tried changing the power plan settings so the Usb wont suspend, I’ve tried unchecking the “allow this computer to turn off the device to save power” box in the device properties. When it drops connection, the network diagnostics says that the default gateway is not available. I don’t know what else to do.

P.S. Idk if i picked the right product in the product section

Hi Alex,

Thank you for posting your question. I’m sorry for the trouble you are having with the USB Ethernet adapter.

Unfortunately, there is something in the Lenovo Yoga hub controllers that causes disconnection problems with this adapter. We have tried hard to work with Lenovo to discover what it is and fix it, but no luck so far. For this reason, we mention on the Amazon page for it: “Not recommended for use with Lenovo Yoga 2 or 3 due to issues with their USB 3.0 controllers.”

If you are still within 30 days of purchase, probably your best solution is to return the adapter to Amazon for a refund. If you are beyond that date, please contact us directly at support@plugable.com, and we will work with you on it.

Thank you,
David

Thank you for the reply. If I plug it into the Usb 2.0 port will it have any problems?

If you plug into the USB 2.0 port, it should resolve the issue, but your maximum possible speed will be around 300Mbps.
