Unable to connect to SBC using static IP address

I’m trying to use an ASIX AX88178 USB2.0 Ethernet adapter to connect to a single board computer running a VxWorks 653 system, using a static IP address. I’m running on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit host machine. I’ve installed the device driver, and device manager says it’s functioning properly. However, Windows networking shows the device not connected because a cable is unplugged. Ipconfig shows Media disconnected for the LAN connection. Looking at the advanced settings in the device driver, Network Address is shown as Not Present. Is this expected? If not, what should I put in as the Network Address?

Hi Robert,

Thank you for posting. We have never tested connecting this adapter to a VxWorks 653 system. I’m going to assume that it is setup correctly to accept the TCP/IP connection with a static IP.

If it is, could you run our diagnostic program on the Windows 10 computer? It will gather device information and installation logs that will help me understand what is happening.

To do this, please plug the adapter into your computer, then go to the following page, and follow the instructions there. Please select the box that says “Allow Plugdebug to gather advanced network connection info.”

When you run the program, it will create a zip file on your desktop with your computer name and the date. Please send that file directly to our support email address at support@plugable.com

Please put “For Ticket #161033” in the subject line.

Thanks!

David
