Thunderbolt 3 dockingstation to be used also with USB3 laptop

Hello

I am a freelance consultant and have a Lenovo Carbon X1 with Thunderbolt 3 and a HP EliteBook 850 (USB 3) laptop from the company that I work for. How can I utilize the Thunderbolt ports and still be able to connect older laptops via USB 3 in the same docking station?

Concidering to purchase TBT3-UDV.

Hi Lars,

Thanks for posting. Unfortunately there is no way to accomplish this. Thunderbolt 3 devices will only work with systems which have Thunderbolt 3 controllers. (Because Thunderbolt 3 requires a special hardware chip on both the host and device side and operates 8x faster than USB 3.0, backwards compatibility is not possible.)
