Plugable USB 3.0 to VGA / DVI / HDMI Video Graphics Adapter Running Really slow

Hello!

I am running a Plugable USB 3.0 to DVI Video Graphics Adapter with my early 2014 13 inch mac air and it is running super slow. It seems like the system is having a hard time keeping up drawing where my mouse is and it just sort of teleports around on the screen when I move it.

It’s a 27 inch running 1080x1920 (portrait). Is this something that is considered normal when running on specs like this or is there something I can do to help it like maybe doing something like what is described here?:

Cheers!

Hi Jacen,

Thanks for posting, and sorry to hear about the performance issues.

Performance of USB graphics on Mac systems is indeed reduced as compared to Windows systems. (This is one of the key reasons that we mention Mac not being supported in our Amazon listings and product pages.)

Looking up the system specs of your Air, it looks like it has a Mini DisplayPort output. If this is the case, one of our Mini DisplayPort to HDMI or DVI adapters (depending on the type of monitor connection needed) should perform better while also being less expensive.

If the USB graphics adapter you’re using is less than 30 days old, the best approach will likely be to return it for a refund using the automated system at www.amazon.com/returns - and of course feel free to let us know if there are any other questions about the best adapter to chose.

Thanks,
Gary
