Onyx Studio 3 speaker and Plugable Bluetooth USB Adapter

I can connect and pair Powerbeat wireless headphones and Bose mini II Soundlink to my pc using Plugable Bluetooth USB adapter. I can not get it to discover my Harmon Kardon Onyx Studio 3 wireless speaker. Any solutions/recommendations?

Pat also contacted us by email, and this procedure worked, although there was a 10 minute delay before the speaker went into pairing mode and was discovered by the computer:

  1. Turn off Bluetooth on any devices in the area that you have previously connected the speaker to and “Unpair” or “Forget” the connection in each device’s Bluetooth settings. This is important to make sure it doesn’t automatically connect to one of them instead of to the computer.

  2. On the computer, click the Bluetooth icon in the system tray and select Add a Bluetooth Device. The Manage Bluetooth devices window will open.

  3. Look for your speaker on the list. If you see it there, click the entry, then select Remove device if that is available. It may not actually go away, due to a Windows bug, but don’t worry. Later a new listing for it should appear.

  4. On your speaker, press and hold the Bluetooth button for at least 2.5 seconds.

  5. Now a new listing for your speaker should show up in the Manage Bluetooth Devices list on the computer. Click it, then select Pair.

  6. The speaker should connect. Try playing music through it. If it doesn’t work, continue with step 7.

  7. Right click the speaker icon on in the system tray at lower right.

  8. Select Playback devices. The speaker should be on the list under Headphones and possibly Headset. Select it under Headphones and click Set as Default device.

  9. It should now be working. If it isn’t please let me know at what step the process failed.
