no device found

I have a bluetooth usb adapter plugged into my linux desktop and the blue light is on. When I click on the bluetooth icon in the tray it says no devices found. All I want to do is connect my smartphone to my computer so that I can transfer files and pictures. Is the adapter what I need for this?

Hi James,

Thank you for contacting us. I’ve been trying to reach you through our ticketing system, but for some reason my replies haven’t been getting back to you.

Here is what I wrote in response to your most recent email:

Hi James,

Thank you for contacting us. I responded to your previous emails, and I not sure why you weren’t able to receive those responses. I hope you will receive this one.

After examining the file you sent in June I noticed that the adapter was working correctly and asked if you could send some more information to help troubleshoot. I asked again after your July message. This was what I wrote then:

Hi James,

Thank you for contacting us about your Bluetooth adapter. I’m sorry about the problems transferring files on your PC.

We haven’t done any testing with PCLOS so I may not be able to give specific advice, but generally you should be able to transfer files from your phone to your Linux PC through the adapter, although depending on how the Linux distribution is set up, you may have to install files or change settings to get it to work.

Could you please answer a few questions that will help me understand the situation?

  1. What is the make and model of your smartphone?\

  2. Could you please click the Bluetooth icon, select Devices and then send me a photo or screenshot of the Window that opens?

Thank you,

David
