My second monitor doesn't work

We are school that just got some Plugable 3.0 replicators. They work fine with a one monitor setup.

For one computer I am trying to add a second monitor but it does not register. Sometimes it looks like Windows sees a third monitor First monitor is on the laptop itself, second monitor is one of the HP’s, it’s the third monitor that isn’t working. The monitor itself never responds to anything I try.

The monitor and laptop are newer refurbished Dell and HP brands that we just got recent and they work fine.

For the first monitor I use VGI to DVI with adapter. For the second monitor I use an HDMI from the replicator to the monitor with a VGA adapter.

From what I read so far I would assume that it would work with an adapter.

Ideas?

Hi Marni,

Thanks for reaching out to us, I’d be more than happy to assist you with your Plugable docking stations. In order to figure out what exactly is going on, we’ll want to gather a bit of additional information.

First, can you please completely reinstall and update the DisplayLink drivers. You can do so by following these steps:

  1. Disconnect the adapter from the computer.

  2. Run the DisplayLink Cleaner tool to completely uninstall existing DisplayLink Software:
    http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/…

  3. Download driver v7.9 M2 from the below link and follow the installation prompts.
    http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/…

  4. Reboot the computer.

  5. Replug the adapter to the computer. Allow several minutes for the driver to enumerate and for the firmware upgrade to complete.

Once that is done, it’d be good to get logs from out tool Plugdebug if the problem still persists. Simply go to this site, with the dock connected. Follow the prompts there, and send us (support@plugable.com) the resulting .zip file.
