Macbook Pro Retina mid/late 2014 and 4K 60Hz @ Chroma 4:4:4 on HDMI 2.0?

Macbook Pro Retina mid/late 2014 and 4K 60Hz @ Chroma 4:4:4 on HDMI 2.0?

Question: Does Plugable have any product that will enable a Macbook Pro Retina mid/late 2014 to display 4K 60Hz @ Chroma 4:4:4 on HDMI 2.0 (on a Samsung 2017 MU6300 43" 4K TV)?

I don’t mind using the Thunderbolt interface or the HDMI interface on the Macbook… Just need to get the Samsung to display a 4K Chroma 4:4:4 at 60Hz from the MBP.

Appreciate any help on this.

Wonder if this would do 60Hz at the above resolution?
It is not HDMI 2.0a though.

Hi vmda, thanks for posting! We haven’t tested our adapter with the same equipment, but our adapter can support 4:4:4 chroma at 4K@60Hz when using 8bpc. However, we have run into several situations where customers have needed to use SwitchResX to unlock the 60Hz refresh rate on Macs with MDP ports to bypass a limitation within Mac OS X that only allows our adapter to work at 4K@30Hz. Even then, I cannot guarantee 4:4:4 chroma to work at 4K@60Hz.

If you’d like to try our adapter, we offer a 30-day no hassle return policy at Amazon.com/returns if you find that it doesn’t work to meet your needs.

Thank you,

David W.
