Linux Compatibility with Plugable UD-3900 displays?

I’m running a brand-new install of Linux Mint 18.1 Cinnamon and have a UD-3900 docking station. I installed the most recent DisplayLink Linux drivers. Everything worked 100% fine for a day or two, but then after disconnecting my laptop and plugging it back into the docking station, everything worked except for the display outputs. I cannot get the displays to be detected no matter what.

I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling using the install script, but that hasn’t helped. I’ve opened the script to make sure it’s executing to completion, and it looks like it is. I know the DisplayLink Manager runs as a systemd service, so I’ve checked if that’s running, and it looks like it is (see below).

Any ideas on how to correct this issue, or do I need to give my docking station away?

Hello and thanks for posting!

While Plugable officially supports Linux on many of our products, we do not offer support for Linux at this time for our USB 3.0 docking stations (like the UD-3900) or USB 3.0 video adapters.

That said and as you mention, DisplayLink (the maker of the chips we use in our products and author of all the drivers) have released a driver for Ubuntu Linux on their website here http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/…. As of today that driver is only officially compatible with Ubuntu 14.04 and 16.04 only.

DisplayLink has a knowledge base here for more info: http://support.displaylink.com/knowle… as well as a forum where they are soliciting feedback directly here -> http://displaylink.org/forum/forumdis…

Looking at the DisplayLink forum, it appears that you have also posted the details of your issue here -> http://displaylink.org/forum/showthre… The best way forward is to provide more information so that DisplayLink can help directly. You can do so by providing DisplayLink with a Support Tool log file from your system as described here -> http://support.displaylink.com/knowle…

Pleas let me know if that information helps!
