lag problems with ud 3900 on surface pro 2017

hi.

i recently purchased a ud 3900 and fixed it up with my surface pro 2017.

there are some problems.

there is some lag with my mouse. i am using a microsoft sculpt comfort mouse on a bluetooth connection.

there is lag on secondary display when i am working on excel. the lag is a serious problem as i cannot work as efficiently as i would like with the lag. this lag only happens on secondary display, not when it is on my surface pro display.

failure to connect to network drives when plugged into LAN. once the network cable is disconnected and pc is connected to network on wifi, it works again.

Hello, thanks for posting and I am sorry to hear of this lag.

Based off of your description we’ll want to reinstall the DisplayLink software and run the DisplayLink cleaner tool to make sure that the software used by our dock is in a good state. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Disconnect the dock from the system and please remove the power cable from the dock so it turns off completely. Please keep it disconnected until the last step.
  2. Uninstall any and all software with ‘DisplayLink’ in the title that is present from within the Control Panel -> Programs and Features. Don’t worry if these entries are not present or if the process does not work, just move onto the next step
  3. Download, extract and run the DisplayLink cleaner tool, found here –> http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/…
  4. Once the Cleaner has been run, reboot (even if not prompted to)
  5. Now download and install the 8.5 M2 DisplayLink software, found here –> http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/…
  6. Reattach the power cable to the dock first. Once the dock is powered on, reconnect it to your system which will trigger the final portion of the installation

Please let us know if these steps help or not and we’ll go from there.

Thank you,

hi david and thanks for the reply.

i have followed your instructions.

mouse lag seems to be rectified.

display lag on secondary monitor seems to have lessened to a more acceptable degree

as for the network drives, i managed to solve before doing the updates by changing the target names to its ip address.

thanks for your help!

Great to hear!

hi david.

i just noticed that when my monitor is unable to process 3d images.

i use ultimaker cura software for 3d printing, but am unable to do so on the extended monitor, only on my surface pro itself.

any way to solve this issue too?

This can occur with any 3d software and USB graphics solutions like our dock. There may be a workaround by enabling/disabling hardware acceleration (sometimes called graphics acceleration) within the setting menu of these programs, but I am not familiar with Cura personally. I would be curious if you see such a setting within the menus.

In doing some research I found this forum thread –> https://community.ultimaker.com/topic… that speaks to issues using Cura with DisplayLink enabled monitors and one response offers a potential workaround. I am unsure if it will help in this case, however.

Thank you,
