I have both the 200x (older model) and 250x usb microscope. With the older model I can get frame rates of up to 25-30 at a resolution of 640x480, but the newer model can only get about 11 fps at that resolution, on the same Windows 7 64 bit machine.
Is there any way to increase the frame rate on the 250x model?

The new microscope is chipset limited to this frame rate. We were forced to switch chips because the one being used for the older camera are no longer being produced. The high resolution framerate (above 1280x1024), however, is the same as before.
This shouldn’t make any noticeable difference in daily use, since when viewing very small things, the relative speed of motion on frame is much slower.
