Ethernet Port not getting connection

We have a UD6950, all the ports seem to work fine. However, the Ethernet port does not get a connection to the LAN. If we plug it directly into the notebook no issue. What should we do?

Hi Marc,

Thanks for posting and I am sorry to hear that the Ethernet port on our dock is not working as expected!

Based on your description we’ll want to make sure that the DisplayLink software used by the dock’s Ethernet port is in a good state by running the below DisplayLink cleaner steps:

  1. Disconnect the dock from the system and please remove the power cable from the dock so it turns off completely (this is important so the unit resets). Please keep it disconnected until the last step.
  2. Uninstall any and all software with ‘DisplayLink’ in the title that is present from within the Control Panel -> Programs and Features. Don’t worry if these entries are not present or if the process does not work, just move onto the next step
  3. Download, extract and run the DisplayLink cleaner tool, found here –> https://s3.amazonaws.com/plugable/bin…
  4. Once the Cleaner has been run, reboot (even if not prompted to)
  5. Now download and install the 8.4 M2 DisplayLink software, found here –> https://s3.amazonaws.com/plugable/bin…
  6. Reattach the power cable to the dock first. Once the dock is powered on, reconnect it to your system which will trigger the final portion of the installation. If the device is not detected, please click the ‘Skip’ button to allow the process to complete and then reboot the system.

If these steps help, great! If not, can you let us know the status of the LED lights on the Ethernet port when the cable is connected to our dock? Typically you should see a solid green light and a flashing amber light.

Thank you,

Mitchell

I performed the recommended troubleshooting steps to rectify the “Unidentified Network” issue I’m experiencing with my UD-3900H model to no avail. WIFI works, but I too require Lan and it would be great to actually have purchased a unit that works as per advertised.

Hi Jarret,

Could you let us know the status of the green and amber LEDs on the Ethernet port? As I mentioned previously, you should see a solid green light and a flashing amber light. If you do not see this, there are few possibilities:

  1. The Ethernet cable is faulty
  2. The network device in which the dock is connected to only supports half-duplex communication
  3. The Ethernet port has failed

Pending your response to the status of the LEDs on the Ethernet port, we can take the next steps from there.

Thank you,

Mitchell
