Dual monitor set up successful, not sure how to use

I’ve attached another monitor to my existing desktop computer using this: Plugable UGA-2K-A USB 2.0 to VGA/DVI/HDMI Adapter for Multiple Monitors up to 2048x1152. I just successfully installed the USB graphics software via Windows 7 Live Update. I was able to configure the display properties in WDP. I can mirror my existing desktop onto the second monitor. This is not what I want.

What I want is to extend my work space between the two monitors so that I can have several applications running on one monitor (email, chat room) and on the other monitor see websites and work in Excel and Word.

How do I move applications between the two displays? If I want to type in a chat room or answer email on my secondary display, how do I switch over to it from my main display? How do I switch back from it to my main display?

Hi KL,

Thanks for posting! The easiest way to change the display mode from the duplicate mode to the extend mode as follows-:

Press the Windows logo key + P on your keyboard. A window pops up with 4 options - Computer only, Duplicate, Extend, Projector only. Select Extend to extend the display across multiple monitors. Here is a link to a video explaining the the same -:
