Can't get my macbook pro to recognize USB adapted display

I’ve got a MacBook Pro laptop and I’m using a Plugable Hub to connect several items. I have two monitors plugged into it, one through the HDMI input, and one through a USB input using an HDMI to USB adaptor.

I can’t get the adapted monitor to be recognized on my system. I’ve gone through Bob’s steps listed on a 5-month-old post, and I tried it both with and without having the adaptor driver installed that came with it. Nothing seems to work to get it to recognize that there are three screens instead of two.

Help!

Cara

Not sure if this will help, but the monitor it won’t recognize is a Dell. The recognized one is an HP.

Hello Cara, thank you for posting and I will be happy to help.

To set expectations, we disclaim support and do not recommend our USB graphics adapters on Mac systems and we do our best to mention those details on the Amazon listings and Pugable.com product pages.

Would you be able to let us know the model of the Plugable hub and Plugable adapter you are using?

Can you let us know the model of the MacBook Pro you are using and the specific model of the Dell monitor? We’ll be able to determine what our potential options are.

Thank you,

David W.
