2.0 7 port hub looping keyboard strokes

The first couple of letters I type when using the 7 port hub are fine, but then it doesn’t stop pressing the 4th key stroke. For instance if I was writing the word “What” I would get “Whattttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt” etc. I am using Ubuntu 14.10 but my PC literally just stopped working so I can’t check to see if it works on Windows. My mouse works fine

Hello Vince,

I am sorry to hear this. I am assuming the keyboard is not doing this when directly connected? Can you please perform the following steps:

  1. Disconnect the USB hub from power and from the computer and wait for 30 seconds
  2. Connect the USB hub to power only and wait for 15 seconds
  3. Connect the USB hub to your computer and test

If this does not improve on symptoms, please connect the USB hub to all the other USB ports on your computer and test. If this is a persistent result please let me know and we can try a pretested replacement unit to rule out hardware failure.

Kind regards,

I did some more testing and it seems as if it only happens on ports that are within 5 ports of my mouse (this is on the USB hub).

Example:

If my mouse is plugged into port 1, my keyboard will loop if it is plugged into ports 2-5. If my keyboard is plugged into port 7 and I plug my mouse into ports 3-6 my keyboard starts looping again.

This problem isn’t really effecting me anymore since I put the peripherals in far away ports but there does seem to be some sort of problem.

Hi Vince,

Wow, that does sound odd. We can also try a pretested replacement unit if you wish to do so. I would just need you to reply to me directly at support@plugable.com with your amazon order id, the serial number of the USB hub and your shipping address for me to get started on this.

Kind regards,
